Explore the beauty of metal thread embroidery in our brand new Summer Strawberries Goldwork embroidery course. Nothing quite says summer like a bowl of Strawberries and cream! Under the expert guidance of our hand embroidery tutors, you'll learn the essential skills needed for this intricate craft. Discover the rich history and tradition woven into goldwork embroidery as you master the art of Metal Thread work. Our tutors will be on hand every step of the way from transferring your design onto fabric to beautifully finishing your threads. This nature inspired design celebrates traditional embroidery techniques in a stunning contemporary context.

Please note: This course does not come with an embroidery kit, please refer to the kit list for all of the materials you will need for this course.

Techniques you will learn includes: Design Transfer, Felt Padding, Cutwork, Applying Pearl Purl

You will learn the fundamental skills to create a beautiful piece of Metal Thread embroidery from design transfer to padding and then applying metal threads.

For this taster course you will need: A fabric of your choice (a fabric with a strong weave such as cotton or linen will work perfectly), A frame for your fabric (either a hoop frame, a seat frame or a slate frame), A pen or pencil to transfer your design onto fabric (if your fabric is a lighter colour you can use a black pen, if it is a darker colour you will need a metallic gel pen that will show up on the surface of your fabric), Felt (Goldwork felt if possible but craft felt will also work, we recommend a red and green coloured felt), Red Gutermanns Thread, Yellow Guttermanns Thread, Gold Smooth Purl, Green Pearl Purl, Gold Pearl Purl, Gold Rough Purl, Silver Pearl Purl, BUL45, BUL14, BUL15, BUL4.1.

Our online courses are delivered via Zoom using a high quality visualiser. Please download Zoom before the course begins (we will send a guide on how to do this when the course is booked). We also have an accompanying WhatsApp group for each of our courses. This group enables you to connect with other students and the tutor by sharing photos of your progress. Please download WhatsApp before the course starts (we will also send a guide on how to do this when the course is booked). All of our online course sessions and recorded and sent out after the class for you to keep forever! They are sent on a link for you to download after the class so please don't worry if you miss a session of tutoring, you can always catch up using the recording.

The classes will cover the basics, insider tips and practical application making sure students are fully equipped to go on and apply what they have learned to their own garments and develop their own unique styles. Our tutors are work embroiderers first and tutors second which means they are able to give you a unique insight into the magical world of couture hand embroidery.
